Cyanotype printing and toning with botanicals

  • Western Hills Garden 16250 Coleman Valley Road Occidental United States (map)

Bring your mom, daughter, or chosen family to the Garden for Mother’s Day weekend. In this workshop, participants will be given a brief introduction to the cyanotype printing process using both negatives and found objects. Historically, cyanotypes were toned with both harmful chemicals and environmentally safe botanicals including teas and herbs. These materials alter the typically known blueprints and allow for a wider range of colors. Students will experiment with different botanicals, papers, and textiles to create unique imagery.

$100 includes snacks, drinks, and a simple vegan lunch. Bring your own if you have dietary restrictions.
